Piman Accessible Web Frontend UI Framework

A UI framework born for accessible web pages Accessibility, so you and I are treated well by the world

Accessibility, Design System and UI Framework

In recent years, the concept of "user-centered" has become deeply ingrained, and this force has begun to spread into the field of accessible web design. By continuously improving the web's friendliness, it aims to achieve the core concept of universal design: Design for All.

Piman was created for this purpose. Starting from the websites people frequently encounter in daily life, the primary mission is to promote developers' use of Piman to build government websites, and then apply it to products, official sites, etc. This allows companies to fulfill social responsibility and align with international trends.

Why use an accessible web UI framework?

  • Reduce the cost of accessible web development: quickly create friendly websites

  • In the future, every website will emphasize accessible web design: it has become a trend of the century, especially now with increased UX awareness

  • WTO statistics show that over 10% of the global population has some degree of physical or mental disability: implement the spirit of Design for All so more users can use it

  • There are not many UI framework packages that comply with Taiwan's accessible web design standards: modifying source code to meet accessibility can easily cause version lock-in and make maintenance difficult

  • Good management of design styles: a complete Design System improves maintenance and development efficiency

A UI framework developed based on Vue 2 (Vue 3 version under development)

  • We hope to make Piman available to as many people as possible. For accessibility learners and layout beginners, Vue is technically mature and relatively easier to get started with compared to other frameworks.

  • Accessible web design requires attention to many technical and structural specifications; copying/pasting HTML can omit details or lead to misuse. Therefore we decided to use Vue to build components to reduce the chance of errors.

  • At the same time, to ensure good support for IE11, we chose Vue 2 for development.

  • Additionally, a Vue 3 version is also in development, but it only supports modern up-to-date browsers.
